Celebrating 20 Years

A look back at two decades of innovation, perseverance, and growth across the Jaffer Group of Companies.

Jaffer Inc.: The Beginning of the Jaffer Group of Companies

The year 2005 marked the official beginning of what would become the Jaffer Group of Companies. Founded by Nizar Jaffer Somji, Jaffer Inc. was established as a unifying platform to bring together a growing collection of businesses under one shared purpose: to create meaningful value through innovation, integrity, and community impact.

From the outset, the Group’s guiding belief was clear: success is built on both people and performance. That principle evolved into the organization’s enduring tagline “Passion for People. Passion for Performance.” It captured the balance at the heart of Jaffer’s approach of combining care for those who power the work with an unrelenting drive for excellence in everything the Group does.

At its inception, Jaffer Inc. encompassed ventures in real estate, construction, data management, and staffing, each designed to complement one another and serve a broader vision of growth through collaboration. More than a corporate structure, Jaffer Inc. became a framework for opportunity — connecting diverse enterprises through shared values of adaptability, accountability, and entrepreneurship.

From those early beginnings in Edmonton, the Jaffer Group has grown into a dynamic collective of companies that continues to build, innovate, and contribute to the communities it serves. Yet its foundation remains rooted in the same philosophy that started it all: empowering people, pursuing performance, and creating possibilities that last.

“When we founded Jaffer Inc., the goal was never just to grow companies — it was to build something that mattered. After years of scaling a large organization, I wanted to get back to working closely with people again — to be hands-on, involved in operations, and connected to the day-to-day energy. In many ways, Jaffer Inc. became a second career and a chance to keep learning, to explore new industries, and to create meaningful impact. ‘Passion for People. Passion for Performance.’ has guided every step since, reminding us that true success happens when people and purpose move together.”

Yellowhead Motor Inn

The First Step into Hospitality

In 2005, the Yellowhead Motor Inn became the Jaffer Group’s earliest major property acquisitions—and the company’s first venture into the hospitality industry. Located along Edmonton’s busy Yellowhead Trail, the long-standing inn was a recognizable local landmark serving travellers, tradespeople, and families for decades.

At the time of its purchase, the acquisition represented more than a real estate investment—it was a strategic entry point into a sector that would later become one of the Group’s strongest divisions: Jaffer Hospitality. The property’s scale, accessibility, and consistent demand through its 153 rooms provided the perfect foundation for developing operational expertise, building strong teams, and learning the nuances of hospitality management firsthand.

In the years that followed, the Yellowhead Motor Inn served as both a training ground and a model for future ventures. It helped shape the Group’s philosophy of revitalizing existing properties with care and purpose, emphasizing quality service, local employment, and long-term community presence.

What began with a single inn on Edmonton’s northwest edge laid the groundwork for a growing hospitality portfolio across Alberta—spanning multiple brands, markets, and communities, all rooted in the same hands-on spirit that started with the Yellowhead Motor Inn.

“Yellowhead Inn was unlike any other place — it brought together people from every walk of life. You’d meet everyone there: travelers, workers, families, community figures — all under one roof. It became more than a hotel; it was a crossroads of stories and experiences. Its early success helped shape the foundation for so much of what our company would go on to build.”

Yellowhead Husky

The Start of a New Retail Chapter

Alongside the Yellowhead Motor Inn stood another important part of Jaffer Group’s early growth—the Yellowhead Husky gas station. Acquired as part of the same property cluster, the site became the Group’s first venture into retail and fuel operations, eventually paving the way for what would evolve into the PetroJaffer network.

At its core, the Yellowhead Husky represented more than a fuel stop; it was an introduction to the retail service industry and the daily interactions that define community business. Managing the site offered hands-on insight into operations, supply logistics, and the value of consistent customer experience—lessons that would later shape the Group’s broader retail strategy.

Over time, the success of the Yellowhead location inspired further investment in service stations across Alberta. As these locations grew under the PetroJaffer banner, they carried forward the same approach first proven at Yellowhead: local ownership, dependable service, and a focus on community connection.

Accurate Data

The Beginning of a Broader Vision

The origins of the Jaffer Group trace back to 2005, when Accurate Data Services Inc., an IT and data management firm serving organizations and businesses across Alberta, was incorporated into the company.

Accurate Data Services provided practical, technology-based solutions at a time when many organizations were beginning to modernize their data and record systems. Its success reflected a simple but enduring approach—deliver reliable service, focus on client needs, and continually look for better ways to solve everyday business challenges.

That same year, Accurate Data Services became the first of what would grow into the Jaffer Group of Companies—a collection of complementary businesses spanning real estate development, hospitality, construction, staffing, and information management. What started as one company with a focus on technology laid the groundwork for a diverse group connected by shared values of adaptability, quality, and community contribution.

Accurate Data Services would later evolve into Consentia Inc., continuing its legacy in data transformation and information management. Nearly two decades later, the Group’s commitment to building meaningful, enduring enterprises remains rooted in the same principles that guided that first venture.

Coliseum Inn

Expanding the Foundations of Hospitality

In 2005, shortly after entering the hospitality sector with the purchase of the Yellowhead Motor Inn, the Jaffer Group expanded its portfolio with the acquisition of the Coliseum Inn, one of Edmonton’s most recognizable hotels. Located directly across from the former Northlands Coliseum, the 98 room property had long been a landmark for travellers, sports fans, and concertgoers visiting the city.

Originally established in 1983, the Coliseum Inn had already welcomed countless guests—from hockey legends to international touring artists. For the Jaffer Group, acquiring such a well-known destination was both a strategic and symbolic move. It reflected the Group’s confidence in revitalizing established properties and its growing commitment to building a strong, locally anchored hospitality presence in Edmonton.

The Coliseum Inn represented an important step in refining the Group’s operational expertise—managing a higher-capacity, urban hotel that served a wide variety of guests and events. It also helped solidify relationships with local suppliers, tourism partners, and staff, forming the operational backbone that would later support the expansion of Jaffer Hospitality across the province. What began as an opportunity to preserve a piece of Edmonton’s hospitality history became a cornerstone of the Group’s early growth—a project that blended legacy, learning, and local pride.

“The Coliseum Inn had the best backyard in Edmonton — right beside the old Coliseum arena (eventually Rexall Place) and Expo grounds. When the NHL came back after the lockout and the Oilers went on that incredible 2006 playoff run, the whole city came alive. You could feel the energy in the air every game night — fans pouring out of the arena, celebrations spilling into the streets. From the top floors, you could see downtown lit up and feel that collective excitement. It was more than just a hotel then — it was part of Edmonton’s heartbeat during one of its most memorable hockey seasons.”

Stony Village

Our First Step into Stony Plain, AB

In 2005, the Jaffer Group made its first land purchase in Stony Plain, Alberta, acquiring the site that would become Stony Village. Envisioned as a thoughtfully planned residential community, the development was designed around a mix of duplexes and triplexes, offering attainable housing options for growing families and first-time buyers. The acquisition marked a key early milestone in the Group’s development journey of transforming land ownership into purposeful community building.

The project also holds special significance in the Group’s history as both its first ground-up construction project and its largest syndicated investment initiative to date. The successful capital raise and execution of the development marked a major step forward in establishing the Group’s capability to bring together investors, builders, and communities under a shared vision.

Realty Beginnings

From RE/MAX Commercial to Jaffer Properties

Before developing its own portfolio of properties and developments, the Jaffer Group’s early work in real estate began under the RE/MAX Commercial banner. Through this affiliation, the company gained valuable experience in commercial sales, leasing, and property management, serving a range of clients and investors across Edmonton.

This period established the foundation for what would later become Jaffer Realty, the Group’s in-house real estate and asset management division. The team’s exposure to diverse market segments, from small business retail spaces to larger mixed-use developments, helped shape the Group’s understanding of long-term value creation, tenant relations, and community impact.

The RE/MAX years were more than an entry point; they were a training ground. They provided the practical insight, relationships, and discipline that would guide the Jaffer Group’s approach to property ownership and development in the years that followed.

Prime Staffing

Building People, Building Potential

Added into the Jaffer Group in 2005, Prime Staffing became one of the Jaffer Group’s first ventures focused on people — connecting Alberta’s growing industries with the workforce needed to keep them moving. Established during a period of rapid economic expansion, Prime quickly found its niche by offering reliable, responsive staffing solutions to construction, industrial, and hospitality clients across the province.

From the start, Prime was guided by a simple purpose: to match opportunity with capability. Its approach combined personal service with operational efficiency, ensuring that businesses had the right people in place, when and where they were needed most. This hands-on, relationship-driven model helped Prime earn a reputation for dependability and trust among both employers and job seekers.

As Alberta’s labour market evolved, Prime Staffing grew alongside it, adapting to new industries, expanding its service reach, and investing in systems and technology to improve speed and transparency. What began as a small, locally focused staffing firm has since become a key part of the Jaffer Group’s ecosystem, supporting not only external clients but also the Group’s own projects across construction, hospitality, and property management.

“When Prime started, Alberta’s labour market was tight, and employers were struggling to find people. We saw an opportunity to do more than just fill jobs, we helped people get a foothold, often when they needed it most. For many, Prime became a bridge back into the workforce as a flexible way to rebuild, re-enter, and regain confidence. It wasn’t just about staffing; it was about giving people a real chance to get their lives moving again.”

2006

Stony Village

Breaking Ground

By 2006, Jaffer Developments officially broke ground on Stony Village, beginning construction on the first duplex and triplex units. The project symbolized both ambition and collaboration — with the team working to raise capital, secure trades, and manage early-stage infrastructure. It was a formative year that established Jaffer Developments’ hands-on approach to construction, bringing vision into reality one foundation at a time.

2007

Barth & Gosset Manor

A Vision for Main Street Living

In 2007, the Jaffer Group acquired land at 5211–5209 50 Street in Stony Plain, Alberta, marking the start of what would become Barth & Gosset Manor, a mixed-use condominium development in the heart of Stony Plain’s historic Main Street. The vision was to create a vibrant community space that combined modern residential living with ground-floor commercial amenities, supporting both residents and local businesses. The project represented an early example of Jaffer’s integrated approach to community-oriented urban development.

Copper Creek Estates

Building a Vision of Community Living

In 2007, the Jaffer Group expanded into residential development with the acquisition of Copper Creek Estates, a premium subdivision just outside Beaumont, Alberta. Surrounded by open countryside and nearby golf courses, the project was envisioned as a place where families could enjoy country living with city convenience. The land acquisition marked an important step in the Group’s growth from property ownership to community development — setting the groundwork for future residential projects under Bilt by Jaffer and reinforcing the Group’s belief in purposeful, locally driven development.

2008

Jaffer Developments Inc.

Building the Foundation for the Future

In 2008, the Jaffer Group established Jaffer Developments Inc. in direct response to a rapidly changing construction market and a growing need for greater control over project costs, timelines, and quality. At the time, the global construction industry was facing one of its most challenging periods — marked by material volatility, labour shortages, and economic uncertainty.

Rather than slow down, the Group made a decisive move: to take construction in-house. This shift allowed for greater visibility into pricing, improved coordination across projects, and the ability to deliver developments efficiently even in unstable conditions. It also gave rise to a model of vertical integration — combining the labour expertise of Prime Staffing, the real estate insight of Jaffer Realty, and the operational drive of the broader Group to ensure projects stayed on track.

The move was both a necessity and a turning point. By learning the construction business from the ground up, the team gained not just technical capability, but strategic independence. As later projects would prove, had the Group stayed with its original external model, many developments might never have been completed. Instead, Jaffer Developments became the catalyst for a new era — one defined by self-sufficiency, resilience, and a deeper understanding of how to build better.

“2008 tested every part of the industry — costs were unpredictable, supply chains unstable, and the old way of doing business wasn’t working. Creating Jaffer Developments gave us control when it mattered most. We learned fast, built smarter, and came out stronger because of it.”

Barth & Gosset Manor

Building Begins

By 2008, construction began on Barth & Gosset Manor under the management of Jaffer Developments. The project broke new ground for the Group, introducing a condominium-style build with commercial frontage — blending residential comfort with retail vibrancy. This phase tested the Group’s growing capabilities in multi-storey mixed-use construction, setting a new standard for design and project management excellence within the organization.

2009

Stony Village

A Growing Community

By 2009, Stony Village began selling homes, marking a new phase in the project’s success. With 113 total units — a mix of duplexes and triplexes — the community quickly attracted families and homeowners looking for quality, attainable housing in a growing region. Each sale represented the culmination of years of planning and teamwork, as the development transitioned from construction site to thriving neighbourhood.

Copper Creek Estates

Homes Begin to Take Shape

By 2009, Jaffer Developments had begun constructing and selling the first custom homes in Copper Creek Estates, turning vision into reality in Alberta’s rural heartland. Despite a challenging economic climate, the team moved forward with confidence — proving that well-designed, high-quality homes could thrive even in a difficult market.

Each home reflected thoughtful craftsmanship, modern design, and the serenity of rural living, all within minutes of Beaumont and Edmonton. The early sales success validated the project’s concept: that estate-style living didn’t have to mean compromise, and that the right combination of design, value, and community could appeal even in uncertain times.

This phase marked a turning point for the Group’s growing development arm, solidifying its reputation for resilience, quality, and vision during one of the most challenging housing markets in years.

2010

The Jaffer Building

Establishing a Home Base

In 2010, the Jaffer Group acquired what would become its signature property — the Jaffer Building, located in the heart of downtown Edmonton. The purchase marked not only a pivotal step in the Group’s growth but also a deeply personal milestone for its founder, Nizar J. Somji.

Visible from Nizar’s former Matrikon office across Jasper Avenue, the building had long stood as a familiar landmark — one that would later carry his family name. Its acquisition was both a strategic and symbolic move: a statement of confidence, community commitment, and continuity. As one of the first Ismaili business owners to have their name on a downtown Edmonton building, it represented a proud moment of progress and belonging.

In August 2010, the Group officially moved its head office into the building. Renovations followed, updating the interiors while preserving the structure’s architectural character. The new space provided a collaborative, professional environment that mirrored the Group’s values — grounded in teamwork, innovation, and ambition.

The Jaffer Building quickly became more than an office; it became a defining part of the Group’s identity and a visible symbol of its presence in the city. It stood as both a declaration of Edmonton roots and a promise of continued growth — a landmark that reflected who the Jaffer Group was, and who it aspired to be.

“Owning a building in the heart of downtown with our family name on it was something deeply meaningful — not only for our company, but for our community. We were proud to be among the first Ismaili business owners to have our name on a downtown Edmonton building. Moving into the Jaffer Building gave us a place that reflected who we were becoming: rooted, collaborative, and ambitious. It also demonstrated our commitment to the City of Edmonton — and, in many ways, it became one of our greatest marketing tools, a visible symbol that showed we existed and that we were here to build something lasting.”

Jaffer Realty Inc.

Strengthening Foundations in Commercial Real Estate

In February 2010, the Jaffer Group officially incorporated Jaffer Realty Inc., establishing a dedicated commercial real estate brokerage to manage and expand the Group’s growing portfolio of land and income-producing properties. The creation of Jaffer Realty formalized what had already become a core function within the organization — the acquisition, leasing, and management of strategically positioned commercial assets across Alberta. With its beginnings rooted in the Group’s early developments and property holdings, Jaffer Realty was founded to provide in-house brokerage expertise that could support both internal projects and external clients. By bringing real estate management under one roof, the company was able to ensure greater control over leasing strategy, tenant relations, and long-term value creation.

Initially focused on office, retail, and mixed-use properties, Jaffer Realty quickly became a trusted extension of the Group’s vertically integrated model. Its work supported not only the investment side of the business, but also the growth of related divisions in construction, hospitality, and staffing — each benefitting from the brokerage’s insight into market trends and space utilization. Today, Jaffer Realty remains a key part of the Group’s foundation — built on professionalism, local knowledge, and a commitment to creating spaces that connect businesses and communities.

Stony Village

A Community Complete

By 2010, the Stony Village subdivision in Stony Plain was fully completed and sold out, marking a proud and defining moment for the Jaffer Group. More than just the end of a development, it represented the culmination of the Group’s first era — the successful completion of its first three major projects: Stony Village, Copper Creek Estates, and Barth & Gosset Manor.

This period tested the Group’s resilience and resolve. Despite economic uncertainty and limited profitability, the decision was made to see every project through to completion — not because it was easy, but because it was the right thing to do. The Group honoured every obligation, delivered every home, and maintained its commitment to quality and accountability even in the face of hardship.

The completion of Stony Village proved something far greater than financial return: it proved the Jaffer Group’s character, integrity, and perseverance. It demonstrated that the company would not only start projects, but finish them — setting a standard that would guide its future growth for years to come.

“Stony Village marked the end of our first chapter — the completion of three projects that tested our will and defined who we are. Even when profitability was uncertain, we stayed the course because it was the right thing to do. Those early years proved our commitment to completing what we start — and doing it with integrity.”

Barth & Gosset

A Stony Plain Landmark Complete

By May 2010, Barth & Gosset Manor was completed and officially opened for occupancy, welcoming both residents and commercial tenants. The four-storey complex features 65 modern apartment units above street-level retail, offering luxury finishes such as 9-foot ceilings, granite countertops, hardwood and tile floors, stainless steel appliances, and access to amenities including a social room, lounge, and underground parkade with carwash.

Strategically located near health centres, shops, and cafes, Barth & Gosset Manor quickly became one of Stony Plain’s premier addresses — embodying Jaffer’s ability to bring design, functionality, and community life together under one roof.

Cavecreek & Devonshire

Expanding into U.S. Residential Development

In 2010, the Jaffer Group expanded its U.S. real estate presence with the acquisition of Cavecreek and Devonshire, two residential properties in Phoenix, Arizona, comprising a total of 26 units. Located in emerging neighborhoods, these properties offered an early opportunity for the Group to engage in hands-on improvement and redevelopment work within developing areas of the city. The project allowed the team to gain valuable experience in the U.S. residential market, while laying the groundwork for future investments and larger-scale hospitality projects across Arizona. Though modest in size, Cavecreek and Devonshire represented an important step in the Group’s cross-border growth — applying the same commitment to quality, community, and care that had defined its work in Canada.

2011

Willows End

A New Residential Vision for Stony Plain

In 2011, the Jaffer Group expanded its residential development footprint with the acquisition of a 42,000-square-foot parcel of land in Stony Plain, Alberta, envisioning a charming 30 unit duplex subdivision that would later be known as Willows End. This project was conceived as a continuation of the Group’s commitment to thoughtful community development—creating well-designed, attainable homes that offered both quality and convenience. Set within one of Alberta’s fastest-growing small towns, the site was chosen for its proximity to local amenities, schools, and open green spaces, providing an ideal location for families and individuals seeking a connected yet peaceful lifestyle. The acquisition laid the groundwork for a collaborative effort between Jaffer Developments and Jaffer Realty, setting the stage for a complete in-house design, build, and sales process that would come to define the project’s success.

By the end of the year and into 2012, momentum was building at Willows End, as Jaffer Realty began marketing and selling the first duplex units in the growing Stony Plain subdivision. Interest quickly followed, driven by the community’s ideal blend of modern design, small-town charm, and convenient location. The project appealed to a wide range of buyers — from young families to downsizers — looking for accessible, low-maintenance homes in a welcoming neighbourhood. The strong early sales marked an encouraging step forward for the Jaffer Group, reinforcing the value of its integrated approach between development, construction, and realty teams.

2012

Best Western Metro, Phoenix AZ

Entering the U.S. Market

In 2012, Jaffer Hospitality crossed borders and entered the United States hotel market with the acquisition of the Best Western Metro Center Inn in Phoenix, Arizona. The 147-room property marked an exciting milestone as the Group’s first international hospitality venture and the beginning of what would become a growing U.S. presence.

The acquisition represented more than geographic expansion; it was a strategic step into a new, competitive market that challenged the team to adapt and perform on a larger scale. Located in one of Phoenix’s most active commercial districts, the hotel provided valuable insight into the U.S. travel landscape, brand partnerships, and guest expectations. From the start, the property served as a testing ground for operational excellence and adaptability, reinforcing Jaffer Hospitality’s reputation for performance-driven management and long-term vision. The success of this venture laid the foundation for future projects in the region, including later renovations and the hotel’s conversion to a Quality Inn in 2016.

This bold expansion reflected the Group’s willingness to explore new markets and opportunities, a move guided by confidence, curiosity, and the same principles that had already defined its success in Canada: a passion for people and a passion for performance.

The Best Western Metro was a turning point for us — our first foray into the U.S. market and our first experience operating a franchised property. It gave us the confidence that we could compete at a higher level, beyond independents, while still staying true to our way of doing business. Taking that leap wasn’t easy, but it proved our courage to grow, to learn, and to expand our reach far beyond where we started.”

PetroJaffer

Fuelling Communities Across Alberta

In May 2012, the Jaffer Group expanded into the fuel and retail industry with the incorporation of PetroJaffer, a division dedicated to operating and managing a growing cluster of service stations and convenience markets across Alberta. What began as a strategic extension of the Group’s real estate and hospitality holdings soon evolved into a robust and well-respected regional network of gas stations serving both travellers and local communities.

At its peak, PetroJaffer operated 12 locations, with current operations across Edmonton, St. Albert, Stony Plain, Edson, Westlock, Hinton, and Drayton Valley. The network has included partnerships with leading fuel brands such as Husky, Tempo, Esso, and Co-op, reflecting the Group’s commitment to diversity, reliability, and strong community presence.

Beyond its operational scale, PetroJaffer has earned recognition for excellence in service and site management. The Yellowhead Husky Market received the 2015 “Clean the Carwash” Award, while individual team members have been recognized, including a 2018 Star Women in Convenience Award for the company’s general manager.

Behind these achievements stands a dedicated, long-tenured team whose consistency, pride, and customer focus continue to define the PetroJaffer brand. Through their work, the division embodies the same philosophy that drives every Jaffer business: build strong relationships, serve with integrity, and invest in the communities we call home.

PetroJaffer was one of those businesses we almost joined by accident. It came with the Yellowhead Inn, and before we knew it, we were in the fuel and retail world. What surprised us most was how much fun and energy it brought to our operations. It became one of our most dynamic divisions built on trust, teamwork, and the dedication of an incredible group of people who turned a happy accident into a lasting success.”

2013

Jaffer Consulting (USA)

Expanding Horizons South of the Border

In June 2013, the Jaffer Group expanded internationally with the incorporation of Jaffer Consulting (USA), a construction and project management firm based in Phoenix, Arizona. Created to support the Group’s growing hospitality and real estate portfolio in the United States, this new division extended Jaffer’s building and development expertise beyond Canada’s borders.

Operating alongside local partners and consultants, Jaffer Consulting was established to oversee renovation, design, and construction projects across the American Southwest, particularly in markets where the Group’s hotel presence was growing. The move reflected a strategic effort to ensure quality and consistency across all Jaffer-owned properties, whether in Alberta or Arizona.

The formation of Jaffer Consulting (USA) underscored the Group’s capacity to operate with both local agility and global vision — building connections, partnerships, and opportunities wherever its projects take root.

Best Western Plus Mesa, Arizona

Continuing to Grow South

The Jaffer Hospitality Group expanded its U.S. hospitality presence with the acquisition of a former Hampton Inn in Mesa, Arizona, as a strategic addition that further established the Group’s foothold in the American Southwest. The property underwent a comprehensive transformation under the direction of Jaffer Consulting USA, the Group’s U.S.-based construction and project management arm, and was successfully rebranded as the Best Western Plus Mesa.

The project included a full interior renovation of all 115 guest rooms, along with the complete teardown and rebuild of the outdoor pool area — revitalizing the property to meet the standards of the Best Western Plus brand. These upgrades brought new life to the hotel, enhancing both guest comfort and operational performance. This acquisition demonstrated the Group’s growing expertise in the U.S. hospitality market and the strength of its vertically integrated model. With Jaffer Consulting USA managing the construction and Jaffer Hospitality overseeing operations, the project exemplified how collaboration between divisions could drive consistent quality and value across borders.

The Mesa property not only expanded the Group’s U.S. portfolio but also showcased the confidence and capability of Jaffer Hospitality to succeed in new markets — guided by the same principle that defines its operations in Canada: build smart, perform with purpose, and always deliver excellence.

Clarion Inn Phoenix, Arizona

Expanding the U.S. Portfolio

Jaffer Group continued its hospitality expansion in the United States with the acquisition of the Clarion Inn, located at 5121 E La Puente Avenue, Phoenix, Arizona. The 188-room property became a cornerstone in the Group’s growing Arizona hotel portfolio, complementing earlier acquisitions in Phoenix and Mesa.

This addition demonstrated Jaffer Hospitality’s confidence in the Arizona travel and business market, as well as its commitment to building a strong U.S. presence rooted in quality management and operational consistency. The Clarion Inn’s size and amenities offered both opportunity and challenge, positioning it as a key asset in the Group’s long-term U.S. hospitality strategy. The acquisition also further solidified the partnership between Jaffer Hospitality and Jaffer Consulting USA, establishing a cross-border model that combined development, construction, and management under one collaborative framework.

Four Points by Sheraton Phoenix, Arizona

Elevating Standards in the U.S. Market

In 2013, the Jaffer Group expanded its growing U.S. hospitality portfolio with the acquisition and rebranding of a prominent Phoenix hotel into the Four Points by Sheraton, in partnership with Marriott’s brand advisors. This milestone not only added a globally recognized name to the Group’s roster but also demonstrated its growing ability to deliver large-scale, brand-standard renovations across borders.

Under the direction of Jaffer Consulting (USA), the property underwent an extensive modernization and infrastructure overhaul. The team completed a full lobby remodel, replaced essential building systems, and installed new windows, lighting, and wiring to meet Marriott’s specifications across all 160 rooms. The project also included a comprehensive renovation of 8,000 square feet of banquet and meeting space, a revitalized tennis court, a redesigned restaurant and bar, and a repaved parking lot — transforming the property into a welcoming and contemporary destination.

The completion of the Four Points by Sheraton Phoenix marked another step in Jaffer Hospitality’s growing success in the U.S. market, reinforcing its reputation for operational quality, construction expertise, and brand partnership excellence. More than just an upgrade, it symbolized the Group’s ability to combine design precision, hospitality standards, and long-term value creation across international operations.

The Four Points by Sheraton was our first full-service property, a true step up in scale and sophistication for our hospitality portfolio. It reflected the best of what our U.S. team could achieve: a complete transformation delivered to global standards, but with the same local care and attention to detail that define us. It remains one of the milestone projects that elevated our confidence and capability in the U.S. market.”

2014

Jasper Block

Preserving Heritage, Inspiring Innovation

In 2014, the Jaffer Group expanded its downtown Edmonton presence with the acquisition of the historic Jasper Block, a landmark building located along Jasper Avenue. Originally constructed in the early 1900s, the building stood as one of Edmonton’s enduring architectural treasures — rich in history, yet full of potential for modern reinvention.

Tasked with revitalizing the space, Jaffer Developments undertook a comprehensive interior modernization that blended heritage preservation with contemporary design. The goal was clear: honour the past while creating space for the future. One of the building’s most notable tenants, Jobber Inc., an Edmonton-based tech company, became the perfect match for this transformation. Jaffer Developments reimagined the interior into a vibrant, open-concept workspace that reflected Jobber’s playful, non-corporate culture — featuring exposed brick and metal details, industrial beams, glass-enclosed breakout rooms, maple panels, and hand-painted wall murals.

Throughout the renovation, the guiding theme remained balance — maintaining the character of the original building while introducing modern elements that encourage collaboration, creativity, and connection. With wide hallways, open social areas, and an absence of traditional cubicles, the Jasper Block redesign became a showcase of how heritage and innovation can coexist seamlessly.

Today, Jasper Block stands as a testament to the Jaffer Group’s vision for downtown Edmonton — preserving the city’s architectural legacy while shaping inspiring environments for the next generation of businesses.

Jasper Block represents the best of what we strive to do — preserve what matters, modernize with purpose, and create spaces that energize the people who use them every day. Even as tenants have changed, it continues to serve as a hub for startups and growing companies, retaining its character and purpose for all who call it home.”

Liquor on 96

Revitalizing a Downtown Corner

In 2014, Jaffer Developments acquired a small, run-down commercial property at 10164 96 Street NW in downtown Edmonton, a site that would soon become home to Liquor on 96. The project reflected the Group’s growing focus on urban revitalization, transforming underutilized properties into functional, attractive spaces that enhance their surroundings.

The single-storey building underwent a complete renovation, led and managed by Jaffer Developments. The team rebuilt the outer façade and roof, introduced new windows and a large glass garage door, and carried out minor structural rework to support the building’s updated layout. An abatement and modern exterior mural added the finishing touches — blending minimalist design with an inviting, local character. Beyond the physical transformation, the project represented Jaffer’s ability to recognize potential in overlooked properties and to execute thoughtful, high-quality improvements that support both business tenants and the broader downtown community.

Southpark Cove

A Vision for Independent Senior Living

In 2015, the Jaffer Group expanded its residential portfolio with the acquisition of land in Stony Plain, set aside for what would become Southpark Cove, a purpose-built community for independent, adult living. Strategically located at 4406 South Park Drive, directly across from the WestView Health Centre, the site was chosen for its accessibility to shopping, health services, and essential amenities.

The concept behind Southpark Cove was forward-thinking: to provide modern, maintenance-free living for adults seeking comfort, convenience, and community without the upkeep of a single-family home. The project reflected the Group’s commitment to designing spaces that enhance the quality of life while responding to the changing needs of residents in smaller Alberta communities.

This acquisition marked an important milestone in Jaffer’s residential development journey and bridged its earlier suburban projects, like Copper Creek Estates, with a new focus on multi-unit housing designed for aging in place.

Copper Creek

A Community Complete

By 2015, Copper Creek Estates reached full completion — marking the successful realization of one of Bilt by Jaffer’s early residential developments and a defining project in the Group’s history. Located just outside Beaumont, Alberta, the 33-lot estate subdivision was designed to blend the quiet charm of Alberta’s countryside with the modern comforts of city living. Over several years, Bilt by Jaffer oversaw extensive land development work, including the rebuilding of the stormwater management facility, roadway upgrades, and the construction of custom estate homes that showcased refined craftsmanship and thoughtful design.

Each home in Copper Creek reflected a unique architectural character, uniting rural serenity with modern convenience. More than just a subdivision, the project represented the Group’s commitment to quality, community, and completion — even during a challenging construction market. When the final lots were sold and occupied in 2015, Copper Creek stood as a testament to perseverance and excellence — a fully realized community that demonstrated Bilt by Jaffer’s capability to build with purpose and integrity from the ground up.

Willows End

Another Community Completed

By the summer of 2015, Willows End was completed, marking another proud milestone in the Jaffer Group’s residential development history. The 30-unit duplex subdivision was designed and constructed by Jaffer Developments, with Jaffer Realty managing sales and client engagement throughout the project’s lifecycle. The team oversaw every phase, from re-zoning and land development to final construction and occupancy, ensuring a seamless process and consistent quality. The result was a quaint, well-connected neighbourhood in southern Stony Plain, offering modern, low-maintenance living for couples, young families, and older adults looking to age in place. Willows End quickly became a reflection of the Group’s integrated model: development, construction, and realty working hand in hand to build lasting communities rooted in design, function, and livability.

Bilt by Jaffer

Building Better, Together

In 2016, Jaffer Developments Inc. entered a new era of growth and identity with its rebrand to Bilt by Jaffer — a name that reflected not only what the company does, but how it does it. The rebrand marked the evolution from a traditional development arm into a fully integrated design-build and construction firm, driven by collaboration, efficiency, and long-term value creation.

Built on more than a decade of experience managing residential and commercial projects, Bilt emerged as a leader in partnership-driven construction, with a focus on hospitality, retail, and commercial spaces. Guided by Lean Construction principles, the company set out to redefine how projects are delivered — maximizing value, minimizing waste, and ensuring every build reflects integrity, innovation, and teamwork.

What sets Bilt apart is its approach: not just constructing spaces, but building relationships. Acting as both prime contractor and owner’s representative, Bilt offers a full spectrum of services — from demolition and remediation to complete tenant improvements and ground-up construction. This adaptability allows the company to take on projects of all sizes, while maintaining the craftsmanship and accountability of a hands-on builder.

The rebrand to Bilt by Jaffer signified more than a new name — it represented a philosophy: Bilt Better. Together. For more, visit Bilt.ca

Quality Inn I-17 Metro Center

Renewal and Resilience in Phoenix

In 2016, the Jaffer Group’s U.S. hospitality portfolio reached a new milestone with the conversion of the former Best Western Metro Center Inn into the Quality Inn I-17 Metro Center in Phoenix, Arizona. The rebranding reflected both the property’s modernization and Jaffer Hospitality’s growing reputation for elevating existing assets through quality renovations and brand partnerships.

Led by Jaffer Consulting (USA), the hotel underwent a comprehensive remodel to align with Choice Hotels’ Quality Inn standards. The transformation included refreshed guest rooms, upgraded lighting and infrastructure, modernized common areas, and exterior enhancements that gave the 147-room property a bright, inviting new presence in the Metro Center corridor. The project built on years of operational experience in the U.S. market and demonstrated the Group’s ongoing commitment to revitalizing well-located, value-driven properties. Despite a competitive environment, the newly branded Quality Inn quickly gained traction by offering consistent service, thoughtful upgrades, and a welcoming environment for both business and leisure travellers.

The conversion symbolized more than just a brand change — it showcased the integration between Jaffer Hospitality and Jaffer Consulting (USA), where design, construction, and operations worked hand in hand to deliver results. It also reflected the Group’s continued confidence in the Arizona market and its ability to adapt, invest, and thrive in new regions.

Genesis Court

Building Community, One Home at a Time

Nestled within the beautiful Genesis on the Lakes subdivision in Stony Plain, Genesis Court stands as a proud example of Bilt by Jaffer’s commitment to thoughtful design and purposeful development. This boutique community features 25 elegant duplex homes—each crafted with precision, quality, and an eye toward modern living.

From re-zoning and site servicing to full construction, the project represents Bilt’s turnkey capabilities and its ability to transform land into lasting community value. Designed for both first-time homebuyers and those looking to downsize, Genesis Court’s homes combine functionality and style—with front-attached double garages, three spacious bedrooms, and contemporary open-concept layouts. Beyond the structures themselves, Genesis Court reflects what Bilt by Jaffer does best: create spaces where people and possibility meet. Each home tells a story of collaboration—between planners, builders, trades, and future homeowners—capturing the essence of Bilt’s philosophy of “Better. Together.”

As Bilt continues to shape residential, commercial, and hospitality projects across Alberta, Genesis Court remains a hallmark of what defines the company: craftsmanship, community, and care in every detail.

2017

Southpark Cove

A Stony Plain Hallmark Complete

By 2017, the vision for Southpark Cove became a reality. Designed and constructed by Bilt by Jaffer, the 66-unit, four-storey apartment building officially opened its doors to residents, offering thoughtfully designed suites tailored for independent adults and downsizers. With a mix of bachelor, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom layouts, Southpark Cove was built with accessibility and comfort in mind, combining quality finishes, secure amenities, and a prime location near Stony Plain’s core. The project reflected Bilt’s focus on efficiency, craftsmanship, and livable design, creating a space where residents could enjoy maintenance-free living close to everything they need.

Managed by Jaffer Properties, Southpark Cove remains a fully occupied property today, recognized for its warm atmosphere and community spirit. The project stands as a long-term success and a living example of the Group’s ability to deliver value that endures well beyond completion.

Completing Southpark Cove was about more than construction — it was about creating a place where residents could truly feel at home. We wanted it to be accessible and affordable, especially for those on a pension or looking to simplify their lives without sacrificing comfort. Years later, seeing it full of people who’ve built a real community there reminds us why thoughtful design and purpose-driven building matter.”

Quality Inn Phoenix Airport

A Complete Transformation

By 2017, the former Clarion Inn underwent a full-scale renovation and rebranding, officially reopening as the Quality Inn Phoenix Airport. Working in close collaboration with Choice Hotels’ brand advisors, Jaffer Consulting USA led an extensive remodel of the entire property, ensuring the hotel met new brand standards while delivering an elevated guest experience.

The transformation included a complete redesign of the lobby, banquet hall, and pool area, as well as a full interior renovation of all 188 guest rooms. The upgrades modernized the property’s look and functionality, combining contemporary design with the warmth and familiarity expected from the Quality Inn brand. This successful conversion represented both a renewed commitment to quality and brand excellence and a continuation of the Group’s strong U.S. hospitality momentum.

97 Street Properties

Breathing New Life into Downtown Spaces

In 2017, the Jaffer Group strengthened its downtown Edmonton presence through a series of strategic property acquisitions, including the former Annex Inn, the Orient Travel Building, and a warehouse property in Chinatown known as the G&C Building. Together, these acquisitions reflected the Group’s ongoing commitment to urban renewal, adaptive reuse, and long-term community investment in the city’s core.

Former Annex Inn: Once a small boutique hotel, the Annex Inn was transformed into a modern, functional headquarters for the Jaffer Group. The project emphasized sustainable renovation, retaining much of the building’s original layout, flooring, and mechanical systems while modernizing the façade and interiors to meet contemporary standards. The resulting workspace combined private offices, collaborative zones, and meeting rooms. This space would later become home to Jaffer Group’s Head Office and eventually into a creative hub for local community group Arts Habitat.

Orient Travel Building: Next door, the Orient Travel Building underwent asbestos abatement and façade restoration, revitalizing the property while preserving its structure. The renewed space soon became home to Biktrix Electric Bikes and Chai Coffee Day, two local businesses that brought energy and foot traffic back to the block, underscoring the Group’s philosophy of supporting local enterprise through smart redevelopment.

Edmonton Chinatown Warehouse: That same year, the Group acquired the G&C Building, a warehouse property in Edmonton’s Chinatown district, with the long-term vision of redeveloping it into a mixed-use space. The acquisition represented foresight into the neighbourhood’s future potential and the Group’s ongoing interest in shaping inclusive, multi-purpose urban environments that balance commercial, residential, and cultural uses.

Together, these projects embodied the Jaffer Group’s belief that revitalization begins with respect for what exists and vision for what’s next: preserving character, modernizing purpose, and investing in communities with lasting value.

2018

Ramada by Wyndham Edmonton Yellowhead

A New Chapter in Hospitality

In 2018, the Jaffer Group’s first hospitality property, the long-standing Yellowhead Motor Inn, entered a new era with its official conversion to the Ramada by Wyndham Edmonton Yellowhead. This transformation marked both a milestone and a modernization, as the property transitioned from a beloved independent inn into part of one of the world’s most recognized hotel brands.

To meet Wyndham’s brand standards, the property underwent a comprehensive renovation and upgrade program led by Bilt by Jaffer, the Group’s construction and design-build division. The work revitalized guest rooms, corridors, and common areas with updated finishes, fixtures, and amenities, giving the hotel a refreshed and contemporary look while preserving the comfort and accessibility it was known for.

The rebranding also represented a shift in Jaffer Hospitality’s trajectory from operating local, standalone properties to aligning with global hospitality networks. The addition of the Ramada brand brought new technology, reservation systems, and international reach, while maintaining the same personal, locally rooted service that defined the Yellowhead Motor Inn for decades. For the Jaffer Group, the project showcased its integrated model in action — hospitality vision executed through in-house construction expertise — and set the tone for future branded developments across Alberta.

Transforming the Yellowhead Motor Inn into a Ramada by Wyndham was a proud milestone for us. After finding success operating franchised hotels in the U.S., we wanted to bring that same level of brand partnership and consistency to Canada. This project gave us that opportunity to modernize one of our earliest properties, elevate the guest experience, and show that we could deliver the same standard of excellence at home as we did abroad.

Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham - Kent, WA

Expanding into the Pacific Northwest with Purpose

In 2018, the Jaffer Group continued its U.S. growth strategy with the acquisition of the Hawthorn Suites by Wyndham in Kent, Washington, strengthening its expanding portfolio of extended-stay hotels across the American West. The property, originally built in 1990, offered spacious suites and a welcoming residential feel — the ideal foundation for a thoughtful modernization that would bring new life to the guest experience.

Soon after acquisition, Jaffer Consulting (USA), the Group’s American construction arm, led a comprehensive renovation and infrastructure overhaul. The team upgraded mechanical and electrical systems, replaced air conditioning, lighting, and plumbing, and introduced new wireless connectivity and security systems to enhance comfort and efficiency. Inside, every one of the 104 suites was refreshed with new carpets, paint, and modern finishes, while exterior landscaping updates complemented the building’s warm, familiar façade.

The result was a renewed property that balanced modern convenience with the welcoming atmosphere that defines the Hawthorn Suites brand. This project not only improved operations but also reinforced Jaffer Hospitality’s growing presence in the United States — combining construction expertise and hospitality management to deliver enduring value for guests and communities alike.

Jaffer Group Moves into the Annex

A New Home on 97 Street

In 2019, the Jaffer Group officially moved its head office into the newly completed Annex Building on 97 Street in downtown Edmonton, which it would occupy for the next 5 years. The move represented both a homecoming and a renewal, as the building had been fully transformed by the Group into a modern, sustainable workspace designed for collaboration, creativity, and growth.

The renovation, led by Bilt by Jaffer, emphasized adaptive reuse and sustainability, retaining much of the building’s original structure and character while updating its interiors with contemporary finishes and open, functional layouts. The resulting space featured private offices, meeting rooms, and common areas that encouraged connection and innovation across the Group’s divisions.

For Jaffer, the relocation symbolized more than just a change of address, it was a tangible reflection of the Group’s values: building better by blending history with progress. Situated at the heart of a revitalized downtown block, the new headquarters became both a hub for operations and a visible expression of the Group’s long-standing commitment to urban renewal and community investment.

Thinkers. Builders. Accelerators: A New Era of Purpose and Perspective
As the Jaffer Group settled into their new home at Annex Inn, it naturally evolved its brand identity and strategic focus with the introduction of its new tagline — “Thinkers. Builders. Accelerators.” This shift reflected both the organization’s growth and its continued commitment to innovation, integrity, and impact. It captured how the Group had matured beyond traditional boundaries to become a dynamic ecosystem of companies driving progress across construction, hospitality, real estate, staffing, and technology.

Thinkers: At its core, Jaffer has always been guided by thoughtful, forward-looking leadership. The Thinkers pillar represents the Group’s dedication to strategic insight, market awareness, and intellectual curiosity — anticipating change rather than reacting to it. This mindset empowers the organization to select projects and partnerships that align with its mission of creating enduring value, building enterprises that benefit both people and the communities they serve.

Builders: Building remains the Group’s foundation — whether constructing physical spaces, growing businesses, or strengthening relationships. The Builders pillar embodies Jaffer’s passion for craftsmanship, precision, and accountability, ensuring every project reflects excellence and long-term purpose. It also symbolizes the Group’s collaborative spirit, bringing together skilled professionals and innovative thinkers to deliver lasting results.

Accelerators: In an era defined by rapid change, Jaffer embraced its role as an Accelerator by leveraging agility, technology, and partnership to drive growth. This pillar reflects the Group’s focus on innovation, efficiency, and people-first progress, uniting data-driven insights with compassion to create sustainable value across all its ventures. Together, Thinkers. Builders. Accelerators. redefined the Jaffer Group’s identity, not as a collection of companies, but as a unified organization built on purpose, innovation, and shared success.

NXT Realty Group

Expanding into Residential Real Estate

In late 2019, the Jaffer Group broadened its real estate reach with the formation of NXT Realty Group, a residential-focused brokerage operating under the umbrella of Jaffer Realty Inc. The move represented a natural evolution for the Group’s real estate division, which had until then concentrated primarily on commercial leasing, development, and investment properties.

NXT Realty Group was created to meet the growing demand for personalized residential brokerage services, connecting homebuyers and sellers with the same professionalism and market insight that defined Jaffer Realty’s commercial success. By combining local expertise with the Group’s integrated support network, NXT agents brought a fresh, client-driven approach to Edmonton’s residential market — grounded in service, trust, and results.

The partnership between NXT and Jaffer Realty strengthened the division’s full-spectrum capability, allowing the Jaffer Group to offer both commercial and residential real estate solutions under one roof. Together, they reflect the Group’s commitment to adaptability and to meeting the evolving needs of Alberta’s property market.

Holiday Inn Express & Suites St. Albert

Hospitality That Moves with the Times

Opened in 2020, the Holiday Inn Express & Suites St. Albert marked a bold new chapter in Jaffer Hospitality’s growth and in the City of St. Albert’s own expansion. Strategically located along St. Albert Trail, the 120-room property was conceived as more than just a hotel—it was designed as a welcoming hub for business and leisure travelers, built through collaboration, innovation, and community partnership.

As Jaffer Hospitality’s first ground-up hotel development, this project represented a major milestone. While previous properties in the portfolio were revitalized through renovation and repositioning, St. Albert was built entirely from the ground up—bringing the full capabilities of the Jaffer Group together in one unified effort. Developed by Bilt by Jaffer, constructed with the support of local trades and professionals, and staffed through Prime Staffing, the project embodied Bilt’s philosophy of “Better. Together.” From concept to completion, every step reflected the synergy between the Group’s divisions—each bringing specialized expertise that turned an idea into a hospitality landmark.

Since opening its doors, the hotel has quickly earned a reputation for offering the signature Holiday Inn Express® “Stay Smart” experience—modern comfort, exceptional cleanliness, friendly service, and thoughtful amenities such as complimentary breakfast, pool, and fitness centre. It has become a trusted stay for visiting families, corporate travelers, and sports teams alike, while providing steady employment and career opportunities for local residents.

Beyond its welcoming guest experience, the Holiday Inn Express St. Albert also represents the resilience and creativity of the hospitality industry during challenging times. Opening amid the global pandemic, the team’s commitment to safety, adaptability, and genuine care for guests set the standard for Jaffer Hospitality’s ongoing growth across Alberta.

Today, the property continues to thrive as a proud member of the InterContinental Hotels Group (IHG) family, standing as a symbol of Jaffer Group’s long-term vision: building meaningful spaces that connect people, strengthen communities, and create opportunity.

The Holiday Inn Express in St. Albert was a major milestone for us — the first hotel we ever built from the ground up and the true rebirth of our hospitality business in Canada. After selling our U.S. hotels, we wanted to refocus our energy here at home, bringing everything we learned abroad into a project that symbolized a new chapter. Building this hotel was about more than development — it was about rediscovering our passion for hospitality and proving we could create something exceptional from the foundation up.”

Ramada by Wyndham Sherwood Park

Strength Through Challenge

In 2020, at the height of the global pandemic, the Jaffer Group acquired the Ramada by Wyndham Sherwood Park, expanding its hospitality footprint in one of Alberta’s most active commercial corridors. The timing of the acquisition was significant — while the travel and accommodation industry faced unprecedented uncertainty, Jaffer Hospitality chose to lean into opportunity rather than retreat from it.

Located near Sherwood Park’s industrial and business centers, the Ramada offered comfortable long-stay accommodations for essential workers, contractors, and local travelers throughout the pandemic period. The property’s steady performance during a volatile time demonstrated both the resilience of its staff and the Group’s ability to navigate complex conditions with focus and care.

Beyond its business strength, the Ramada acquisition reflected Jaffer Hospitality’s philosophy: growth guided by perseverance and purpose. Even amid industry headwinds, the Group continued to invest in people, infrastructure, and the communities it serves — laying the groundwork for renewed hospitality growth in Alberta’s post-pandemic recovery.

Super 8 by Wyndham Edmonton South

Resilience on Gateway Boulevard

Also in 2020, the Jaffer Group added the Super 8 by Wyndham Edmonton South to its growing portfolio — another bold acquisition made during one of the most challenging years in hospitality history.

Situated along Gateway Boulevard, the Super 8 has long served as a dependable stop for families, travellers, and working crews. Under Jaffer Hospitality’s management, it became a model of community-focused resilience, continuing to operate safely and reliably when travel demand was at its lowest.

While many hotels across the country were scaling back operations, Jaffer Hospitality chose to invest in stability and people — preserving jobs, maintaining standards, and supporting guests who relied on accessible, value-driven accommodation. The acquisition underscored the Group’s belief that perseverance through adversity is what defines true hospitality leadership.

Today, Super 8 Edmonton South remains a testament to that principle — a property that endured the toughest season in modern travel and emerged stronger, supported by a team defined by dedication and care. For more information, visit Super 8 Edmonton South

With transparent pricing and scalable configurations, Contexture empowers finance teams to work faster, reduce manual entry, and achieve up to 90% savings in processing time and cost.

Portugal Properties

Expanding Horizons Abroad

In 2021, the Jaffer Group took a bold step beyond North America with its investment in a five-unit apartment building in Lisbon, Portugal. Following the Group’s gradual exit from the U.S. market, this venture reflected both curiosity and confidence — an opportunity to diversify internationally while exploring a region admired for its history, culture, and growing real estate potential. The decision to invest in Lisbon was as much personal as it was strategic.

It represented a chance to try something new in a market many within the Group had come to appreciate, combining lifestyle appeal with thoughtful, long-term growth potential. While modest in scale, the project symbolized the Group’s entrepreneurial spirit and global perspective, continuing its legacy of exploring new opportunities beyond conventional boundaries — and doing so with the same balance of prudence and imagination that has guided every venture since its beginning.

Rezvan & Chesterfield

A Footprint on the Vancouver Market

In 2021, the Jaffer Group made its first foray into a major Canadian market outside of Edmonton with the acquisition of two apartment properties in North Vancouver — Rezvan (16 units) and Chesterfield (11 units). These acquisitions marked a strategic expansion into British Columbia’s competitive housing market, representing a thoughtful entry into one of Canada’s fastest-growing urban regions. The North Vancouver properties reinforced the Jaffer Group’s ability to diversify geographically and strategically, expanding its footprint while maintaining the same commitment to integrity, quality, and community that defines its operations across all markets.

2022

Valley Pointe at Holyrood

Modern Living by the River Valley

In 2022, Bilt by Jaffer completed Valley Pointe at Holyrood, a four-storey residential apartment complex located at 9508 83 Street NW in Edmonton’s scenic River Valley district. Designed and constructed to offer modern, convenient living in one of the city’s most desirable neighbourhoods, Valley Pointe reflects the Jaffer Group’s integrated approach to development — where construction, ownership, and management come together seamlessly.

Featuring 12 contemporary suites tailored for singles, couples, and small families, Valley Pointe provides residents with a balance of style, comfort, and accessibility. Positioned between the Holyrood, Strathearn, and Bonnie Doon communities, the property offers easy access to shopping, parks, and future Valley Line LRT connections, while maintaining the peaceful atmosphere of a mature, tree-lined neighbourhood.

The project’s success also underscores the strength of the Group’s vertically aligned model. Built by Bilt by Jaffer and fully managed by Jaffer Properties, Valley Pointe exemplifies how in-house collaboration creates enduring value from design and construction through to ongoing operations. Completed amid strong demand for quality rental housing, the building quickly achieved full occupancy, reflecting the team’s commitment to thoughtful design, reliable management, and community-focused development.

More Portugal Properties

Growing Our Portfolio in Lisbon

In 2022, the Jaffer Group expanded its investment portfolio in Portugal, building upon the success of its initial Lisbon venture the previous year. The Group acquired three additional properties — a mixed-use building with six units (one retail and five residential), a warehouse property, and a smaller building known as Benfica. This expansion represented a natural next step in the Group’s growing international investment strategy, timed during a period of strong opportunity and market stability in Portugal.

While the acquisitions remained modest in scale, they reflected a deliberate effort to diversify beyond residential assets, adding industrial and mixed-use properties to the portfolio for balance and long-term value. The move reinforced the Jaffer Group’s hallmark approach — strategic opportunism guided by prudence — expanding into new markets when the timing, potential, and purpose align. Together, these acquisitions deepened the Group’s European presence and exemplified its continued drive to explore unique, high-quality opportunities beyond Canada’s borders.

2023

Prime Staffing

Expanding Strength Through Capitol Personnel Services

In 2023, Prime Staffing expanded its reach and capabilities with the acquisition of Capitol Personnel Services, a well-established Alberta staffing firm specializing in light industrial and plant shutdown work. The acquisition represented a natural next step in Prime’s growth — deepening its expertise in industrial workforce management while reinforcing its commitment to supporting Alberta’s essential industries.

For decades, Capitol Personnel Services had built a solid reputation for reliability and precision in staffing industrial operations, particularly during high-demand maintenance and turnaround periods. By integrating Capitol’s specialized team and client base, Prime strengthened its ability to deliver workforce solutions that meet the complex logistical needs of large-scale facilities and project timelines.

The acquisition also broadened Prime’s service offerings, positioning it as a comprehensive staffing partner across multiple sectors — from hospitality and construction to energy and industrial maintenance. It reflected the Group’s broader strategy of building long-term value through diversification and by aligning complementary strengths within its portfolio.

Prime Staffing

Growing South with Calgary Expansion

In 2023, Prime Staffing expanded its footprint with the opening of a new Calgary office, marking an important milestone in the company’s Alberta-wide growth. The move strengthened Prime’s presence in one of the province’s most dynamic labour markets, allowing the team to better support clients and workers across southern Alberta. With local representation in both Edmonton and Calgary, Prime enhanced its ability to respond quickly to regional needs — from industrial shutdowns to hospitality, construction, and administrative placements. The Calgary office also reflected Prime’s continued focus on accessibility and relationship-building. By being closer to its clients and workforce communities, the company reinforced its long-standing commitment to service built on trust, responsiveness, and local expertise.

2024

Consentia

A New Chapter in the Heart of Edmonton

In early 2024, Consentia marked a pivotal moment in its evolution by moving its headquarters to the Jaffer Building at 10355 Jasper Avenue—a return to the center of Edmonton’s business community and a step that perfectly aligned with the company’s growth as a leader in digital transformation.

For a firm built on the mission of making information accessible, valuable, and future-ready, the move represented more than a change of address—it symbolized progress in motion. Situated in the heart of downtown, the Jaffer Building provides Consentia with a dynamic environment for collaboration, innovation, and connection. The space was envisioned as a modern hub where data specialists, project managers, and client teams could work side-by-side, designing next-generation solutions for document digitization, AI-driven data extraction, and secure information management.

The downtown location also reinforces Consentia’s identity as a locally rooted, community-minded Alberta company. Being closer to government offices, corporate clients, and partner organizations enhances accessibility and collaboration, allowing the team to meet clients where they are—both geographically and operationally.

Beyond its operational advantages, the move signalled Consentia’s continued integration within the Jaffer Group ecosystem. By sharing proximity with its sister companies under the same roof, Consentia now benefits from cross-disciplinary synergy—linking technology, staffing, construction, and hospitality expertise to deliver even more comprehensive client solutions. As Consentia continues to serve organizations across Canada, its new downtown home stands as a fitting reflection of what the company represents: progress built on partnership, precision, and purpose.

The Jaffer Building

Coming Home to Jasper Avenue

In 2024, the Jaffer Group of Companies came full circle as it returned to the heart of downtown Edmonton and to a familiar address: the Jaffer Building at 10355 Jasper Avenue. This move represented far more than a change of office; it marked a homecoming—a return to the company’s roots in the very core of the city that shaped its beginnings.

For the Jaffer Group, the Jaffer Building is more than a name on a facade—it’s a living symbol of progress, innovation, and community. From this central hub, the Group continues to bring together its diverse portfolio of companies—spanning hospitality, construction, staffing, real estate, and data services—under one collaborative roof.

Designed to be a space where creativity meets collaboration, the Jaffer Building serves as both a workspace and a statement of purpose. Its open design encourages connection among teams, fostering cross-company innovation and new partnerships. More than that, its downtown presence reaffirms the Group’s ongoing commitment to Edmonton’s growth—supporting local business, revitalizing the city’s core, and creating opportunities that extend beyond its walls.

As Executive Vice President Alim Somji described at the time of the move, this transition “aligns our constellation of companies with the dynamic pulse of Edmonton.” Today, the Jaffer Building stands as a testament to that vision – a place where new ideas take shape, where collaboration sparks opportunity, and where the next chapter of Jaffer’s legacy continues to unfold.

The Gem Building

Honouring History, Shaping the Future

In 2024, the Jaffer Group expanded its growing downtown Edmonton portfolio with the acquisition of another historic property — now referred to as The Gem Building, located at 9676 Jasper Avenue in the city’s Quarters District.

Formerly home to the Sea Palace Restaurant, the property carries a special connection to Edmonton’s past. Its new name, The Gem Building, pays homage to the original Gem Theatre, which once stood nearby and served as a gathering place for the community in the early 20th century. By reclaiming the name, the Group continues its tradition of preserving the heritage and stories of the area while looking forward to its revitalization.

Plans for the Gem Building include a comprehensive renovation that will restore the structure’s character while preparing it for its next commercial tenant — continuing the Group’s mission to blend heritage preservation with adaptive reuse. Situated along Jasper Avenue, this acquisition strengthens the Jaffer Group’s role in the ongoing revitalization of The Quarters District, contributing to Edmonton’s downtown renewal through thoughtful, community-minded investment.

2025

Consentia

Expanding West with the Acquisition of Micro Com Systems

In December 2025, Consentia Inc. took a significant step forward in its growth journey with the acquisition of Micro Com Systems, a long-standing British Columbia-based document imaging and information management firm. The acquisition marked Consentia’s official expansion beyond Alberta and into Western Canada’s largest urban markets, solidifying its position as one of the region’s leading providers of document digitization and data transformation services.

Founded in the early 1970s, Micro Com Systems built a strong reputation in Vancouver and the Lower Mainland for precision scanning, microfilm conversion, and secure digital storage. By bringing the company under the Consentia banner, both organizations united decades of experience, shared values, and complementary capabilities — creating a stronger, more agile service network for clients across provinces.

The acquisition also reinforced Consentia’s mission to make digital modernization accessible, efficient, and locally delivered. With teams now operating in both Alberta and British Columbia, the company is positioned to serve an even broader range of public- and private-sector organizations while maintaining the personal, client-focused service that has defined its success for over 50 years.

As part of the Jaffer Group of Companies, this expansion symbolizes more than growth — it reflects a continued commitment to Western Canadian innovation, collaboration, and community partnership. Together, Consentia and Micro Com Systems are shaping a future where every organization, no matter its size or starting point, can move forward with confidence.
